Healthy Heart Institute is Central Alberta's first multi-disciplinary medical practice specializing in cardiology, internal medicine and respirology. Our office is conveniently located in downtown Red Deer, near the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
We offer specialist consultation, Echocardiography, Carotid Doppler, Nuclear Cardiology, ECG, Stress Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing.
The test combines a stress test with nuclear imaging to analyze the heart muscle function, as well as the blood flow through the arteries that supply oxygen to the heart.
The exercise stress test is performed to measure how well your heart responds to exercise (when your heart is working its hardest). For the test, you will be connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine and asked to exercise on a treadmill. This test is done to help your doctor determine if your heart is receiving adequate blood flow and enough oxygen during exercise.
Pulmonary function testing involves a series of tests that measure how well your lungs function.
Carotid Doppler uses vascular ultrasound to examine the blood circulation to the face and brain. If narrowing of the arteries in your neck is suspected, this test will help the doctor determine the degree of narrowing.
An echocardiogram is a scan that uses sound waves (ultrasound) to produce pictures of your heart. It’s a completely painless test, has no side effects, and uses no radiation. This test evaluates how well your heart is pumping and whether your heart valves are working properly.
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that is used to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity.
